Marking stainless steel with a diode laser? It's possible! And quite well, in fact. The secret weapon is called: markSolid Spray.
With it, you can create deep black, high-contrast markings on stainless steel that are durable and look professional.
Perfect for personalized gifts, small products, or individual unique pieces – from tools to bottle openers.

Material for your stainless steel marking
- Stainless steel object (e.g., tool, bottle opener, pendant)
- markSolid laser marking spray
- Cleaning agent (e.g., alcohol for degreasing)
- Gloves and possibly respiratory protection
- A simple spraying environment (e.g., cardboard as a "booth")
- And your Mr Beam (from [S] head)
What is markSolid Spray?
markSolid is a special laser marking spray that allows you to permanently mark stainless steel in black.
During lasering, the material bonds with the surface, creating a resistant, high-contrast marking.
Important to understand: It is not an engraving, but a material application. This is precisely what ensures the intense black color and the high-quality result.
What's possible with markSolid
With markSolid, entirely new project possibilities open up for stainless steel:
- Personalize tools
- Design bottle openers and small gifts
- Create stainless steel pendants
- Apply logos or names to stainless steel
- Refine individual everyday objects

How to use it
1. Prepare stainless steel
Thoroughly clean your stainless steel object and remove grease or dirt. This is the only way for the spray to adhere optimally. Important: your raw stainless steel must not be coated or painted.
Tip: In the Mr Beam Shop, you'll find numerous suitable blanks.
2. Apply markSolid Spray
Shake the can well and spray a thin, even layer from about 10–30 cm away onto the desired surface.
Let the layer dry completely – it will become matte.
3. Create design
Create your design in BeamOS or a graphics program.
Important: Use filled areas instead of lines to ensure a clean mark.
4. Mark stainless steel
Place your workpiece in the Mr Beam and start the laser job with the appropriate settings.
5. Cleaning
After lasering, you can simply wash off the residues with water or use our Ultra Grime wipes.
What remains is your finished mark.
Common mistakes – and how to avoid them
Too thick a layer
→ leads to messy results. Less is more here.
Dirty surface
→ grease or dust prevent good adhesion.
Damaged coating
→ do not touch after drying.
Incorrect settings
→ always test beforehand.
Safety at work
When working with the spray, you should definitely pay attention to safety:
- Work in well-ventilated rooms or outdoors
- Use respiratory protection
- Wear gloves
- Protect the surroundings
Conclusion
With markSolid, you can expand your Mr Beam with a new capability:
Mark stainless steel visibly, permanently, and with high quality.
Especially for personalized products, gifts, or small series, this is a real game-changer.
Just give it a try – the possibilities are greater than you might think.
