Money gift for confirmation or communion - Mr Beam Tutorial

First communions and confirmations traditionally take place on the Sundays after Easter.

This year, my niece is going for communion. But what do you give?

The children or young people who go for communion or confirmation often receive gifts with a religious background, or even monetary gifts.

But are you always faced with the question: How do I package the money?

Just put it in a card with an envelope? Too impersonal and somehow “doesn’t look good”, don’t you agree?!

I have to admit that since I got the Mr Beam, I've preferred giving away money in beautiful wooden packaging. It always looks good, you can easily personalize it and if you package it nicely, you quickly have a nice monetary gift to give.

The file for your monetary gift for confirmation or communion

In order to be able to laser your monetary gift for communion or confirmation , you start your Mr Beam.

You can find the file in the Mr Beam Design Store. A wooden envelope for a personalized communion or confirmation gift that you can design completely individually.

Template money gift

The blue lines are the cutting lines for the blue poplar plywood, the red lines are the cutting lines for the regular poplar plywood. The black elements are engraved, and the fish is laser cut from white acrylic.

There is an area on the top and bottom of the envelope for a personal engraving or for the oval from the file, which you can also engrave.

Thanks to the acrylic, the fish, as a symbol of the Christian faith, becomes an eye-catcher on the envelope as a monetary gift for communion or confirmation.
Money gift template

I put the date of her first communion, her name and an “All the best for your communion” on the envelope as a monetary gift for my niece.

To do this, I downloaded the file from my design library and then inserted, adjusted and placed the words as an engraving in my graphics program. After I saved the file again, I dragged it into the workspace of the Mr Beam software, and it was ready for lasering.

Of course, you can also easily personalize the engraving for your cash gift for confirmation or communion in the workspace of the Mr Beam software by using the “Quick Text” function.

Prepare the individual laser jobs

In order to be able to divide the laser jobs into the respective material, you split the file in the work area of the Mr Beam software. In the file name area, you will find a drop-down menu in the form of three orange lines.

Arrange file

Behind this are the options for splitting the file. Since you don't want to separate the engravings, divide by "vertically" and "horizontally" until you have the front part of the envelope, the back part of the envelope, the spacer, the oval for the congratulations and the fish individually.

Laser your monetary gift for communion or confirmation

Now place the blue poplar plywood into the Mr Beam and use the camera preview to place the two parts of the envelope on your material. First remove the remaining parts of the file from the workspace.

Then focus the laser head and start the laser job. To do this, select “poplar plywood” and “3 mm” as the material. When engraving, you can reduce the line spacing from 0.15 to 0.1 mm in the advanced settings.

Then comes the normal poplar plywood. To do this, load the file into the workspace again and split it up again. This time, remove the two blue parts of the envelope, leaving the envelope spacer, the congratulations oval, and the fish as well.

Place laser file

You choose the same laser settings again, skip the cutting lines and colour of the fish, and start the laser job.

After lasering, take everything out of the Mr Beam and put the white acrylic inside. Now all that's missing is the fish as an eye-catcher for your cash gift for confirmation or communion. Here you change the laser settings from poplar plywood to acrylic, select the colour white and start the laser job.

Then everything is lasered, and you can finish making your personalized money gift for communion or confirmation.

Put together your money gift for communion or confirmation

First impregnate the wood so that it survives the celebration

Before I glued the gift of money together, I first treated the areas where no glue was applied with beeswax wood treatment.

Maintain wood

This means that the wooden surface of your confirmation or communion gift is impregnated and protected from dirty hands or spilled drinks.

To do this, apply the wax thinly to the surfaces using the included cotton cloth and after a short drying time, polish the surfaces a little with an unused corner of the cotton cloth. Afterwards, your gift of money will smell wonderfully of pine.

Finish making the money gift

  • Glue the oval with the congratulations in the middle of the front of the envelope.
  • Glue the fish around the date with the all-purpose glue.

Put together a gift of money

  • Then the spacer follows. Apply wood glue to both sides of the spacer and place everything exactly on top of each other.
  • You can use the clamps to secure your envelope as a gift of money, and the glue sets more quickly.

Monetary gift for communion

After drying, your personalized money gift for confirmation or communion is ready. You can now fold or roll the banknotes and put them in the envelope. Pack it nicely, and it's ready for the child's big day of communion!

I wish you a lot of fun crafting and a nice celebration.
