Make unusual Easter decorations in a glass - Mr Beam Tutorial

The spring comes! The first signs of spring are sprouting from the earth everywhere: daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses and much more.

And when spring slowly gets going, Easter is not far away.

I recently rediscovered a glass vase in my closet where I keep my decorative items and had the idea of ​​using it for our Easter decorations in the garden. But it's just too high for spring bloomers. They would then be much too deep in the glass and would not be shown to their best advantage. And then instead of beautiful colours there is a layer of brown earth that is very present through the glass...no, there has to be another way.

Thanks to my Mr Beam and the felt in great colours, I quickly had an idea!

And in this tutorial I'll show you how I solved these problems.

Everything made of felt for your unusual Easter decorations in a glass

What does Mr Beam laser almost as quickly as paper? That's right, felt. That's why your Easter decorations in the glass are ready so quickly. Start your Mr Beam and open the Mr Beam software.

For the Easter decoration, you need bunnies and eggs - you can find both in the Mr Beam Designstore - and a felt base for the glass vase. The felt eggs will later hang on the branches, and the bunnies will serve as a splash of colour along the inside of the glass in the potting soil.

The bunnies and eggs will of course be colourful! To do this, use felt in light blue, purple, yellow and orange. For the Easter decorations in the glass, you need two eggs and two bunnies of different sizes for each colour. To do this, divide the four bunnies from the Easter bunny file in the work area and duplicate the simple egg once. Place the first colour of your felt in the Mr Beam and adjust the bunnies and eggs to your material using the camera preview in the work area.

To then change the size of an element, click on it and then drag it either larger or smaller by clicking on one of the arrows at the corners.

After lasering, take the finished eggs and bunnies out of the Mr Beam and put the next colour of felt in them. You do this with all four colours.

The intermediate base made of felt for your Easter decorations in the glass

Felt is known for being relatively waterproof. And since the 3 mm thick felt keeps out both a little water and soil, it is perfect for laser cutting into an intermediate base for the glass vase.

To do this, first measure the inner diameter of your glass vase and the outer diameter of the preserving jar. In the work area you then create your intermediate floor from two circles using “Quick Form”.

Now centre the smaller circle in the larger one, place the brown felt in the Mr Beam, start the laser job and after a short time the intermediate floor is finished.

Tip: The resulting intermediate base can sit very tightly around the round glass and also very closely to the vase, in order to be as tight as possible.

Make your Easter decorations in a glass

Now, most of it is actually done, because everything just has to go into the glass.

To do this, place the round glass in the middle of the vase and fill it with Styrofoam eggs around the glass so that there is still enough space above to plant the spring flowers.

Then place the brown felt base over the round glass and carefully press it down to the Styrofoam eggs.

Carefully remove the plants from their pots and place them on the intermediate floor together with one of the felt bunnies. Make sure that there is as little space as possible between the rabbit and the glass.

Once you have placed all four plants in your glass vase, the spaces in between are filled with soil. So that colourful rabbits, instead of brown soil, will later catch the eye in these areas, hold a rabbit on the glass with one hand while you fill in the potting soil with the other hand.
Tip: You can use the laser-cut inner circle of your intermediate shelf to cover your round glass. This will prevent potting soil from falling into the round glass when filling the vase.

Felt eggs as pendants on the branches

Now you're almost done. Now put the branches in your round glass in the middle of your Easter decorations in the glass. You can simply pick them up under trees or buy them in stores.

Tie strings to the felt eggs and then hang them on your branches.

Tip: You can of course also use the round glass in the middle of your Easter decoration in the glass as a flower vase for tulips, for example, if you don't feel like waiting until the spring bloomers finally show colour. 🙂
