Preparing wine tumblers with the Rotary Tool
Before you start engraving, you should prepare your glasses well.
Clean the surface thoroughly so that no fingerprints or dust affect the engraving.
Important: Before using the Rotary Tool, you'll need a small aid:
Since wine tumblers often taper towards the bottom, it's important to stabilize the base. You can easily make a foam ring yourself for this.
Cut the ring beforehand with your Mr Beam – it's important that the inner diameter perfectly matches the glass. The outer diameter should be chosen slightly larger so that the tumbler sits securely on the rollers.
Then place the ring on the bottom of your glass. This balances the glass and allows it to rotate evenly – a prerequisite for clean and precise engraving.
Next, insert the Rotary Tool into your Mr Beam and carefully place the wine tumbler on the rollers.
Make sure the glass is lying straight and can rotate evenly – this is important for a clean engraving. You can also use the frame run to test this.
Creating a design – names and small details
Now it's time to get creative! For a bachelorette party, especially suitable are:
- Names of the participants
- Small hearts or symbols
- Lettering like "Bride" or "Team Bride"
It's best to choose an easily readable script font and make sure the lines aren't too fine.
Engraving wine tumblers with the Mr Beam
Upload your design to BeamOS and position it over your glass using the camera preview. Before that, you should specify the diameter of the glass so that the preview adjusts correctly.
The Rotary Tool rotates the tumbler automatically during engraving – this creates an even result on the rounded surface.
For our glasses, we used the following settings (with the [x] head):

Start the laser and watch as your individual design gradually appears on the glass.
Tips for perfect engraving results
- First test the settings on a spare glass (a "sacrificial" glass is really worth it!)
- A lower speed often results in finer details
- Do not position the design too close to the edge
- Make sure the glass doesn't slip and weigh it down if it's too light
